Life has been a bit different around the Robinson household. June 4th was my last day at Perkins+Will. It was almost exactly 5 years since I started. It was an amazing 5 years, I learned a lot, met the man of my dreams, got married and had a baby! It was a very exciting chapter in my life but I am now looking forward to being a FULL-TIME stay-home-mommy.

Here is a run-down of what has been happening the last few weeks:

Friday June 4th (also my last day of work), my mom, sister Rachel and sister-in-law Emily and I got away for a MUCH needed girl's weekend. Grace and Josiah (Rachel's 5-month-old) came with us, but Emily's four kids stayed home with my brother Micah. We went to my mother-in-law and step-father-in-law’s house in Wimberley in the Hill Country. It was WONDERFUL! My mother-in-law was the perfect host! We all had cute note pads and eye masks on our bed when we got there. We slept in Saturday, went to Wimberley Market Days and hung out in the river and drank margaritas. We had planned to go out to dinner but decided to get take out and play a games. It was a great girl’s day! Sunday we slept in again, had breakfast and headed back to the Big D. We have decided we need to make this a bi-annual trip. It was great!

My first week at my “new job” was a bit rocky. Grace got her first full-blown sickness, an upper respiratory infection and double-ear infection. We were blessed to make it almost 10 months without a major illness. Even though she was very sick she was still a very good baby. Very fussy for her but in comparison to other babies not bad at all. We are very blessed with a wonderful baby girl!

One of the benefits of being sick...Mommy allowed Grace to play in the Tupperware cupboard for the first time. I had to get dinner cooked and it was the only thing that made her happy!

Ryan’s dad bought a “new toy", a ’48 Ford Convertible. He bought it in Ohio. Granny Bea and him flew up to pick it up and drove it home. They stopped in Dallas for a stop. Grace thought it was A LOT of fun to drive! Ryan and I took it for an evening spin, it was so much fun!

Last week I helped my mom with a garage sale for a close friend of hers. It was a TON of work but made a couple hundred bucks so it was worth it. We also have some HILARIOUS stories (getting pulled over by the Highland Park police, shoplifters ect. ect.). Plus, I was able to get rid of a lot of stuff. We ended the week swimming and having a Father’s Day BBQ with my family.

We also took Grace on our boat for the first time. She was NOT a fan of the life jacket! She better get used to it since she will be on the boat for many years to come! Actually, by the end of the day she was ok with it...little steps, right?!?!

I am really enjoying the time with Grace Elizabeth. It has been soooo much fun seeing her change every day. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a lot of work but VERY rewarding! I am looking forward to the all of the fun journeys I will have with my precious baby girl! Now that I have more time I am going to do my best to blog at least once a week. I hope I can do it! :-)
