Tech Football & State Fair!

This post is WAY over due! I started it a month ago! The weekend of October 8th, Ryan and I went to the Texas Tech vs. Baylor football game at The Cotton Bowl. Since the game was at the Texas State Fairgrounds we spent the afternoon at the fair and then stayed for a concert by one of our favorite Texas country artists, Wade Bowen. Grace went to Neena & Poppa's house for the weekend to give us a much-needed weekend together. She had GREAT time!

Friday night we were sitting around trying to figure out what to do without a 13-month-old and two of our favorite people, Aimee and Caleb Rosier, invited us to dinner. We went to BJ's Brewery and had a great time! I laughed so hard my face hurt!

The next morning we invited our friends going to the game with us to our house for breakfast. It was an early morning but a very yummy. After breakfast we headed to the train station to take the DART to the fairgrounds. We had a great time! Here are some pictures from our day.
Fried Frito-Pie - This won the Best Taste Award. It was pretty darn good.
Fried Grilled Cheese - YUMMY. This was my favorite.
Corn Dog - You HAVE to get one at the fair!
Fried S'mores - Oh.My.Word. Delicious!
Wade Bowen
We basically ate our way across the fair and had a wonderful time together! Thanks Neena & Poppa for watching Grace for us!

Cottonwood Arts Festival

Today we went to the Cottonwood Arts Festival in Richardson. I have always wanted to go but we have either been out of town or busy. The weather was gorgeous today so we decided to check it out. It was great to see all of the different and unique artists from across the country. It was a great family day! Here are some pictures from the day.

Grace trying a funnel cake for the first time.

Grace was tired of being in the stroller. She loved being on Daddy's shoulders!

I love this picture!

Firemen Fun!

The other day while I was watching my nephews Helen (my sister-in-law's neice) we heard sirens outside. When we realized how loud they were we decided to go outside and check it out. There were 3 huge firetrucks, a fire marshall, and tons of firefighters in full gear. The neighbor smelled smoke when she got home and called the fire department. Thankfully, it was a false alarm and everything was fine. I asked the firemen if the kids could look in the truck. The firemen was very nice to the kids and more than happy to show them around the trucks. The kids were soooo excited to sit in the firetruck and meet REAL firemen!

David woke up just in time for us to run back outside and jump up in the truck.

MOPS!

Friday Grace and I went to MOPS (Mother's of Preschoolers) for the first time. The first class was actually two weeks ago but Grace was sick so we couldn't go. I really enjoyed it and Grace did GREAT in childcare. It was wonderful picking her up and being told by three different childcare workers she was the BEST baby, she didn't cry once. She loves playing with other kids. Our guest speaker, Melissa Hill, was great! She talked about her husband's awesome ministry, Mercy Street. Click here to find out more about the incredible things God is doing in West Dallas. Melissa also has a blog that is very fun to read about her adventures in "the hood", A Long Way From the Theta House. The entire time Melissa was talking I couldn't help but think I had met her somewhere before. At the end of the class I got to talking to her and asked her if we had met or if she knew my mom or brother. Low and behold her kids go to the same school as my niece and nephews, I must have seen her at the school or a game. What a small world!

I don't have any pictures of the day but here is a cute one from the weekend. Have a blessed week!

Enchanted Garden!

Grace Elizabeth's "Enchanted Garden" party was Saturday. It was a great time! I need to send a HUGE thank-you to my precious momma, without her help I wouldn't have been able to get everything ready for the party. We had an all-day soiree, it started at 2 and the last guests left at 10:45. A great time was had by all! It was the perfect party for our princess. Here are a few pictures. The other pictures will be posted on our Shutterfly page. I can't believe my baby is 1!!

Birthday Princess!!

Today our precious Grace Elizabeth turns 1!! I can't believe one year ago I was in the hospital holding this sweet newborn baby trying to figure out how to take care of her! She is truly the JOY of our lives. I did not know I could love someone as much as I love my baby girl. Watching Ryan interact with her makes me fall in love with him more and more every day. He is truly an AMAZING daddy!

She is constantly on the move! I am fairly certain she would win a crawling contest if I entered her. The most steps she has taken is 4, so she is very close to really taking off. She has a total of 6 teeth and teeth 7 & 8 will be popping through any day now. She is still a skinny mini I weighed her today and she weighed 15 pound 10 ounces (below 5 percentile) and was 28 inches long (between 10-20 percentile). We will get the official measurements are her one year check-up on Monday. She is talking up a storm. Her first word was "Hi!" the first time she said it in the right context was on vacation with my family to Josiah, her 6-month-old cousin. She also says "dada" (ALLLLL the time!), "bye", "momma" (very rarely) and today she said "bow" (probably because she has heard that word and worn one since the day she was born!). She does a lot of other "talking and story-telling". The chick is never quiet, if she's quiet she's doing something she isn't suppose to! She also has the concept of no. We just firmly say "Grace" and give her a look and she shakes her head and will usually stop what she's doing. The best is when she crawls away really fast and acts like she wasn't ever doing it! She brings so much laughter and happiness to our lives!
I am also quite proud of the fact the she has never had one sip of formula. I started out with the goal of breastfeeding for 6 months, once I realized how much easier it was than dealing with a bottle and the health benefits there was no doubt in my mind to continue to breastfeed. I think it is truly amazing that God created my body to provide nutrition to my sweet child! We serve an amazing God!

Above are a couple pictures of her birthday breakfast with mommy and daddy. Ryan had to go to New York today for work so we spent the morning together celebrating our birthday princess. My incredible mom and I have spent the afternoon getting ready for the "Enchanted Garden" birthday party on Saturday. Since it is almost midnight I am going to bed, Ryan's mom and step-dad will get in around 2 pm tomorrow. They are going to watch Grace while I run some last minute errands for the big bash on Saturday. I will try to post pictures of the party this weekend. I also need to do a post about our vacation, I have been so busy the last month I forgot! Hopefully, next week...
Thank you to everyone who has helped us, encouraged us, loved us and been for us this past year!

4 Years of Wedded Bliss!

4 years ago Ryan and I were married! It seems like it was just yesterday but it also seems like it has been much longer than 4 years! I can honestly say I am more in love with him today than I was that day. Thank you, God for putting this wonderful man in my life!

Camera Face!

We had a wonderful time in Wimberley at Ryan's mom and step-dad's house last weekend. Ryan's Aunt Nini and Uncle Corky, cousin Megan and her boyfriend Jody along with Ryan's step-brother Mace and his two kids were all there. Good thing the house is big! We missed Kara but she was loving her alone time back at home! It was a packed house but a lot of fun! We spent our time shopping and relaxing. The weather was a little off so we didn't hang out in the river. We really wanted to stay until Monday but decided to head back to the Big D on Sunday. We are going on vacation with my family next week and have a ton to do. It also took us 5 1/2 hours to get there due to traffic and we just couldn't handle sitting in traffic on the way back. Here are some pictures from our trip. Aunt Nini taught Grace to make a "camera face" every time we try to take a picture. Needless to say Grace thought it was HILARIOUS! She is still doing it and we have been home for 4 days!

Aunt Nini bought Grace a new flower headband! She also bought her about 5 outfits! Grace has more clothes than I do!

Of course Uncle Corky had to try out the flower too!

Grace's new trick "Camera Face!"

Camera Face AGAIN!

Camera face one more time...I'm really hoping this is just a phase! It was adorable at first but now Mommy is ready to get some "normal" pictures!

I know the spacing is a little weird, bear with me I am still getting the hang of blogging! I also haven't found a template I like so I am trying different ones.

Blessings! Momma L

Happy 4th of July!

I hope everyone has a great weekend! We are off to Wimberley for the weekend. I can't wait to relax in the river and be amazed at God's beauty in the Hill Country!

On another note...do you like the blog's new look? I am trying out different backgrounds and thought this was perfect for the celebration of our wonderful country. Happy 4th!

The Big 4-0!

Saturday was my sweet sister-in-law Emily's 40th birthday. She said she wanted to be surounded by friends and family with good food and drink. I think the party was a huge success and lots of fun!
Dad thought he was pretty funny getting her a house dress and hat. He said that it is exactly what his Grandmother wore only her hat was white!

The food was FABULOUS and beautiful!!

The birthday girl and her sister, Andrea.

Who knows what we were doing!

Me, my Mom and sister Rachel. Rebekah is off "studying abroad" in Italy. However, I don't know how much studying she is actually doing!

My handsome hubby and me!

Sunday I put up the splash pool Neena got Grace for Christmas. She LOVED it!

Grace is working on her wakeboarding form! Ryan bought a kids wakeboard for all of the nieces and nephews to use on the Hobart Family Lakehouse Vacation. We leave on the July 11th and can't wait! Don't worry, Ryan is going to cover up the creepy guys face with some wakeboard stickers. We didn't realize he was so demonic looking when we bought it off of Ebay!

I hope everyone has a wonderful 4th of July! We are heading to Wimberley to hang out with Ryan's family. I will post lots of pictures next week.

Life has been a bit different around the Robinson household. June 4th was my last day at Perkins+Will. It was almost exactly 5 years since I started. It was an amazing 5 years, I learned a lot, met the man of my dreams, got married and had a baby! It was a very exciting chapter in my life but I am now looking forward to being a FULL-TIME stay-home-mommy.

Here is a run-down of what has been happening the last few weeks:

Friday June 4th (also my last day of work), my mom, sister Rachel and sister-in-law Emily and I got away for a MUCH needed girl's weekend. Grace and Josiah (Rachel's 5-month-old) came with us, but Emily's four kids stayed home with my brother Micah. We went to my mother-in-law and step-father-in-law’s house in Wimberley in the Hill Country. It was WONDERFUL! My mother-in-law was the perfect host! We all had cute note pads and eye masks on our bed when we got there. We slept in Saturday, went to Wimberley Market Days and hung out in the river and drank margaritas. We had planned to go out to dinner but decided to get take out and play a games. It was a great girl’s day! Sunday we slept in again, had breakfast and headed back to the Big D. We have decided we need to make this a bi-annual trip. It was great!

Grace swimming in her new pool and swimsuit from Mernie and Gramps!

My first week at my “new job” was a bit rocky. Grace got her first full-blown sickness, an upper respiratory infection and double-ear infection. We were blessed to make it almost 10 months without a major illness. Even though she was very sick she was still a very good baby. Very fussy for her but in comparison to other babies not bad at all. We are very blessed with a wonderful baby girl!

One of the benefits of being sick...Mommy allowed Grace to play in the Tupperware cupboard for the first time. I had to get dinner cooked and it was the only thing that made her happy!

Ryan’s dad bought a “new toy", a ’48 Ford Convertible. He bought it in Ohio. Granny Bea and him flew up to pick it up and drove it home. They stopped in Dallas for a stop. Grace thought it was A LOT of fun to drive! Ryan and I took it for an evening spin, it was so much fun!

Last week I helped my mom with a garage sale for a close friend of hers. It was a TON of work but made a couple hundred bucks so it was worth it. We also have some HILARIOUS stories (getting pulled over by the Highland Park police, shoplifters ect. ect.). Plus, I was able to get rid of a lot of stuff. We ended the week swimming and having a Father’s Day BBQ with my family.

Grace swimming with Poppa on Father's Day

We also took Grace on our boat for the first time. She was NOT a fan of the life jacket! She better get used to it since she will be on the boat for many years to come! Actually, by the end of the day she was ok with it...little steps, right?!?!

I am really enjoying the time with Grace Elizabeth. It has been soooo much fun seeing her change every day. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a lot of work but VERY rewarding! I am looking forward to the all of the fun journeys I will have with my precious baby girl! Now that I have more time I am going to do my best to blog at least once a week. I hope I can do it! :-)
