Halloween-Thanksgiving update

Well it's been too long since we last updated pictures, so I wanted to give you a few quick updates from the last few weeks. And of course, there are a lot more pictures on our shutterfly page.

Here's Grace in her 1st Halloween costume. She was the funniest looking flower!...for about 3minutes and then the hat had to come off.

We only visited one neighbor for a little trick-or-treating, since none of the others had their porch lights on. After that we had a fun dinner with the Rosier's.

Here she is on Thanksgiving day in her turkey outfit! My cousin Mike was definitely the baby-hog in Huntsville at Aunt Lunette and Uncle Johnny's.

And here she is with her Great Grandmother 'Gram' on Sunday after Thanksgiving.

Grace's 2-month check-up

Today was Grace's 2-month check-up... For starters I had to drop Mommy and Grace off while I took Mernie to do some shopping while we were at the doctor. But by the time I got back, Grace had soaked her dress and mommy's jacket with spit-up, and Grace had peed all over the baby scale (they make you weigh without any clothes or diapers). So needless to say we were off to a bad start.

And as it turned out the last 2 minutes when Grace received her shots, wasn't much better. It happened so fast but Grace's loud cry made Mommy cry too. (I think Grace recovered faster than Leah!)

But enough of the bad news and on with the good news!!!!

Grace is doing GREAT! She's growing and developing exactly as she should. She weighed 10lbs 13.5oz which puts her in the 50th percentile. She is 23.75" LONG, which puts her in the 92nd percentile! (Although she measured 23" long at home). And her head was 37.6cm, which puts her in the 8th percentile.

So all in all it was a good 2-month check-up for Grace Elizabeth. Our next one is at 4 months.

And here is Princess Grace taking a nap after the doctor's visit.

...past due update

I know that I'm way behind with updates of Grace...so here's a quick rundown of what's been happening in The Robinson household.

September 4 - Mernie (Ryan's mom) came up to stay with us for a week and help out with Grace. Mernie firmly believes that Grace is the most beautiful grandbaby in the world!

September 6 - We celebrated Neena's (Leah's mom) birthday (Sep 2) in Waxahachie with Rich, Micah, Emily, Jacob, Elizabeth, Benjamin, David, and Uncle Pete (Caleb).

September 19 - Happy 1-month Birthday Grace!

September 19 - Grace watches her first Red Raider football game. (we lost to UT...BOO!)

September 21-22 - I had to take my first overnight business trip (to Philadelphia) away from Mommy and Grace...but I survived.

October 5- Mommy goes back to work for the first time in 6 weeks. Thankfully Neena has been able to watch her during the day instead of Grace having to go to daycare.

October 8 - I was asked to give a lecture at Texas Tech University to over 250 freshman Architecture students. I can honestly say that when I was sitting there in the same class back in 1995, I never in a million years thought I'd be giving a college lecture. My lecture was titled "A day in the life of an Architect". (see link at the bottom of this post for a video that our visualization gurus at work created for me to use. I'm not in the video, but it's a cool view into our firm and the architecture profession.)

October 9 - We celebrated our friend Dana's 30th birthday and Grace got to hang out with Uncle Micah and Auntie Em and cousins for her first night of babysitting. And afterwards, Grace slept through the night for the first time!!!!

October 16 - Grace's first road trip to Houston. We stopped off in Kingwood to visit Aunt Kim, Uncle Will, and cousins Rachel, Paige, and Sami. Mernie, Gramps and Uncle Jesse were there too. Saturday we spent the day with Granny Bea and _______ (Ryan's dad...who is waiting for Grace to give him his nickname.) Saturday night we went over to Jack and Kelly's for a gettogether to celebrate Grace and Aunt Tinti's birthday.

Sunday we went to see Rulla (Grace's great-grandmother) and Rulla said "she's PERFECT!" Also on Sunday, we returned back to Richardson with Mernie, who's going to stay with Grace for 9 days.

October 19 - Happy 2-month Birthday Grace!!

October 19 - After only 2 weeks back at work, Mommy just can't handle being away from Grace all day, so she reduces her hours at work so she can spend more time at home.

Other than that, we've just been changing diapers and enjoying the abundance of smiles that Grace has been providing us lately.

Also, check out our new picture site www.therobinsonfamilyjourneys.shutterfly.com (link on right side of this page) where we'll be uploading all our pictures of Grace and The Robinson Family journeys.

Grace Elizabeth Robinson

Baby Grace Elizabeth was born into this world at 1:28pm today, August 19, 2009. She was 8lbs 2oz and 21.25" long.
Both Leah and Grace are doing great.

Here's a couple of quick pictures, one before we left the house for the hospital and one of Daddy and his new baby girl. We'll put up more pictures later after she takes a bath and gets on a new pink outfit (of course).

Surfing

Well with baby Grace almost here, we decided to take the boat out one last time and enjoy it before we're too busy changing diapers. So we went out to Lake Ray Hubbard (close to Dallas) with Jeff, Dana, and their daughter Hannah.

So here are a couple of pictures of us wakesurfing behind the boat.

(and for those not familiar with wakesurfing...) It's not as dangerous as it looks, but you can only do it behind full inboard boats since the prop is up underneath the boat and not sticking out behind. Otherwise it's similar to wakeboarding, but you're only going 10mph as opposed to 20mph. You get pulled up with a similar rope, but once you get comfortable you can toss the rope back in the boat and SURF the 4' tall wake. And once you get really comfortable, you can have someone toss you a beer and enjoy a frosty beverage while you surf.

Revenge again

...this time it was our revenge.

So it's been a little while since I posted about my youth getting revenge on me...and since then, there have been some new developments.

We ultimately found out from my best friend Jeff that his wife Dana along with our good friends Kevin & Stacy were the ones that wrapped our house.

Naturally I wanted revenge, mainly against Kevin. So after some deliberation and Leah telling me that I wasn't allowed to do anything illegal, we came up with the idea to wrap the INSIDE of the Bowen's house while they were gone for 10 days in China.

We wrapped pretty much everything in sight and even several things out of sight that we knew they wouldn't find for days, months, and even years later. Kevin has said that every couple of weeks he finds more toilet paper in the strangest places (suit pocket, sleeve of a shirt, inside his boots, inside the door bell...and the list goes on.)

Here are the pictures of the process and aftermath. A good time was had by all, including Jeff & Dana's kids (Michael and Hannah).

Revenge on the Bowen's

The Bowen's have vowed to get us back, especially Jeff and Dana since they're the ones who told us, but Kevin has said this, "the only thing that made me mad about coming home after traveling for 14 hours from China, while being sick, is that I didn't think of doing this to you first!"

3D sonogram

Here is a picture from the 3D sonogram we had back at the beginning of March. Sorry we're so late getting these posted. It's a little difficult to see, but I added a few notes to help orient the view. The photo show's a profile of her from the left. She's sitting down with her back to the right and her left arm and leg in view. Enjoy.

Youth's revenge

Well I think my mischief as an adolescent has already begun to come back and get it's revenge!
Saturday night we had a fun evening with our friends Shonna and Andy Craigo. We had dinner at the most expensive Sushi and Chinese food Buffet I've ever been to. It cost almost as much as the amazing buffet at the Bellagio hotel in Vegas. Although I do have to note, we received a free meal courtesy of an old colleague who I worked with on a hospital project in Lewisville a few years ago...so I can't complain about the price of the buffet ($27each). After dinner we met up with Courtney & Fred at 300, the home of a bowling alley, laser tag, game arcade, bar, billiards, and a private club which you can rent out for $100/hour for a private bowling party.
Anyway, enough of the first half of the story and back to the revenge part...
So we leave the bowling alley just after midnight, which by the way is the latest Leah has stayed awake since New Year's, and we arrive home to see that our house has been WRAPPED or TP'ed (Toilet-Papered). We don't know who and we don't know why, but Leah thinks it was a random act of some kids because we have a perfect tree for wrapping. I disagree and I also feel that it wasn't nearly as good of a job as myself and my cohorts had done in the past! I believe our best achievement was for Sabrina's 17th birthday when we bought almost 100 rolls of toilet paper and wrapped her house while her parents watched us from inside...of course we didn't know it at the time. They later confessed to Sabrina that they didn't want to interrupt artists at work.
So I guess those one or two times when I snuck out of the house and went 'wrapping' have finally caught up with me. I really thought my mischief would take a lot longer to enact its revenge.

Video from 2nd sono

Here's a couple of video clips from the 2nd sonogram.

This first one shows the measuring of the heartbeat at 176 bpm.

This one show's him really arching his back and moving around.

3rd Sonogram

We went back to the doctor yesterday (Feb. 2nd) and saw the baby for the third time. She was moving and grooving!! The doctor said everything looks perfect. The baby was even arching its back and neck, which is a very good sign. We were able to see the baby’s fingers and toes, which was amazing! She also looked right at us and we could see the face, it was so cool! The heartbeat was 161 bpm and is almost 2 inches long. We got back the test results and everything turned out great, so we shouldn't have anything to worry about. We are truly blessed.

We got another video but it didn't record the best parts when she was kicking and pushing herself around.

I go back to the doctor later this month, but we won't get another sonogram until the end of March which will be when we find out the whether it's a boy or a girl.

The picture above is the one that Ryan thinks looks like he's smoking!

2nd Sonogram

Well, this is a little late getting posted, but here it is.

We went for our second sono on January 26 and the little (and I mean little) baby is really taking shape. He (I'll refer to the baby as a 'he' and Leah will of course say it's a 'she') was 37mm long, which wasn't long enough to measure the neck in order to determine any risk factors, so we get to go back on February 2nd and get another sono. His little heartbeat was 176 bpm which is very fast but very normal, and good during the 10th and 11th weeks.

We got a great DVD of him squirming around and kicking his feet. It's so amazing that at a little more than 1.5 inches long he can be moving so much and developing so fast (growing approx. 2 mm per day).

Anyway, that's all for now. Enjoy the pictures.

Our new addition!

Hello Family & Friends,

Some of you may or may not know that Leah and I are having a BABY!! We went to the doctor Monday for our first ultrasound and saw the heartbeat. At 149 beats per minute, Leah thought there were two in there!! I was quite relieved to find out there is only one. Leah was 8 weeks on Tuesday; the doctor says everything looks great! Our due date is August 18th!...who doesn’t want to be 9 months pregnant in August in Texas?!?!?

Attached are the pictures from the ultrasound. I like to call the baby "The Claw" (you can tell why from the 1st picture.) Neena (Leah's mom) has been calling it "Charlie" so we've both been jokingly calling it "Charlie the Claw". Don’t worry we will come up with a better name by August!
We go back January 26th for another ultrasound, and they said the baby will look drastically different…we can’t wait!!!!

Thanks for all of your prayers!
Love You-
Leah, Ryan and "Charlie the Claw"
